The MBBR process utilizes floating plastic carriers (media) within the aeration tank to increase the amount of microorganisms available to treat the wastewater. The microorganisms consume organic material. The media provides increased surface area for the biological microorganisms to attach to and grow in the aeration tanks. The increased surface area reduces the footprint of the tanks required to treat the wastewater. The media is continuously agitated by bubbles from the aeration system that adds oxygen at the bottom of the first compartment of the aeration tank. The microorganisms consume organic material. When compared to conventional secondary treatment it provides superior efficiency and value.
Frequently Asked Questions.
1.Why did others hang the film faster after adding sucrose, is the pure HDPE material already eliminated?
Answer: No, it is not. With the addition of sucrose and other additives, it is true that the film will be fast, but after a long time, the loss of sucrose will cause the early attached microorganisms to fall off. It will also cause the quality of MBBR carriers to decline, the structure to be unstable, more easily broken, and increased costs. MBBR made of pure HDPE material will last for more than 15 years.
2.Why is the aerobic pool very cloudy? I obviously increased the aeration volume!
Does n't it mean that the more aeration of the aerobic tank, the better?
Answer: Because the aeration volume of the aerobic tank looks simple, it should actually be just right. If the amount of aeration is insufficient, the nitrification effect will be poor, and the fluidization effect will be poor, and the nitrifying bacteria cannot be fully cultured. However, too much aeration will cause the sludge to swell and fall, resulting in muddy water. Therefore, the specific analysis of specific problems requires the control of aeration for specific problems.
3.After adding MBBR bio-filler, do I still need to add bio-mud?
Answer: Depending on the situation, if in the anoxic and anaerobic stages, biological mud is unavoidable and must be added. However, in the aerobic tank, if the temperature is moderate, the nitrification effect is good, and it can be omitted. If the number of bacteria is insufficient, an appropriate amount of bio-mud can be added to promote the film-hanging rate.
4.How much MBBR filler should be added? half? Or top up?
Answer: Using an aerobic tank as an example, if there is biological sludge, the amount of MBBR biological filler is 30%. If there is no biological sludge and the nitrification reaction is performed with pure MBBR material, the added amount can reach 70% or even 80%. Of course, sufficient aeration and agitation are required.
